Racing season is almost over but before you know it , it will be a highly watch sport just as Football is. My son-in-law, Ricky Brooks has come a long way in this field. He is highly needed and wanted by several racing spots as the head tech for his honestly and value of knowledge in the racing field. He also, from time to time will race himself and he is one who believes in being fair and honest in this sport. Here is a clip of an interview done with Ricky, I am so very proud of him

Tuesday Treasure

Do you like Thrift stores? I sure do, sometimes I can hit the jackpot , then go for weeks and find nothing. I love Roosters so found this today and will use it for my tea bags. Been raining here alot and we sure needed it as they say we are below the rainfall average. But, I sure would like the white stuff that falls from the sky myself, lol.

Three more days before the jolly ole fat man arrives. I sure hope with things being so bad this year that the kiddos will get to have a good Christmas everywhere. The children is what matters and most of all remembering the reason for Christmas. Have yourself a very Merry Christmas.

Buying Bread --> -->
When you buy bread in the grocery store, have you ever wondered which is the freshest? Many people "squeeze" for freshness or softness. Did you know that bread is delivered fresh to the stores five days a week? Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Each day has a different color twist tie. They are:
Monday = Blue
Tuesday = Green
Thursday = Red
Friday = White
Saturday = Yellow
So if today was Thursday, you would want a red twist tie -- not a white tie which is Fridays (almost a week old)!
To remember the colors of the twist tie, they go alphabetically by color - Blue-Green-Red-White-Yellow, Monday through Saturday, skipping Wednesdays.
Very easy to remember.
I thought this was interesting so checked it out. I looked in the grocery store and the bread wrappers DO have different color twist ties; and even the ones with the plastic clips DO have different colors.
I learn something everyday. Now you can enjoy fresh bread when you buy bread with the right color on the day you are shopping.

Do you like to go to thrift shops or yard sales? Sometime I do but since I am in a small place if I bring something in, something has to go out, and I told hubby it isn't going to be my things. lol This is what I got today. Old crock with the blue duck painted on. I love to go junk hunting but sometimes I find treasures.

A Mothers Prayer

Dear Lord, it's such a hectic day,With little time to stop and pray, For life's been anything but calm,Since you called on me to be a mom.
Running errands, matching socks,Building dreams with building blocks. Cooking, cleaning, and finding shoes, And other stuff that children lose.
Fitting lids on bottled bugs,Wiping tears and giving hugs.A stack of last week's mail to read,So where's the quiet time I need?
Yet when I steal a minute Lord, Just at the sink or ironing board,To ask the blessings of your grace, I see them in my small one's face,
That you have blessed me all the while,As I stop to kiss that precious smile.
Today is my first borns 44th Birthday. Oh my, did I just give my age away?
Happy Birthday son, may you have many more to come.
Love Mom

My Mother use to do this sort of thing way back when. I remember her making crocheted edgeings on hankies and pot holders , she made a beautiful tablecoth that I have today. Will tell you the story of the tablecloth one day soon.

Back in Florida and so much to do. Traveling is fun but the work waiting on you when you return. Today will be a busy day for me but just wanting to say Good Morning and wish you a great day.

December 16th and have a son who will be 44 tomorrow, oh my telling my age, gosh. Happy Birthday to my first born.

Dear Lord,
Every single evening
As I'm lying here in bed,
This tiny little Prayer
Keeps running through my head.
God bless all my family
Wherever they may be,
Keep them warm and safe from harm
For they're so close to me.
And God, there is one more thing
I wish that you could do,
Hope you don't mind me asking
Please bless my computer too..
Now I know that it's unusual
To Bless a motherboard,
But listen just a second
While I explain it to you, Lord.
You see that little metal box
Holds more than odds and ends,
Inside those small compartments
Rest so many of my friends..
I know so much about them
By the kindness that they give,
And this little scrap of metal
Takes me in to where they live.
By faith is how I know them
Much the same as you,
We share in what life brings us
And from that our friendships grew.
Please take an extra minute
From your duties up above,
To bless those in my address book
That's filled with so much love.
Wherever else this prayer may reach
To each and every friend,
Bless each e-mail inbox
And each person who hits send.
When you update your Heavenly list
On your own CD-ROM,
Bless everyone who says this prayer

Once upon a time, an Indiana candymaker decided to create a new kind of candy that would witness to his Christian faith. He began with a stick of pure, white, hard candy–white to symbolize Jesus’ Virgin Birth and sinless life, and hard to symbolize the firmness of the promises of God, the Rock of our salvation.
The candymaker made the candy in the form of a “J” to represent both the precious name of Jesus and the staff used by the “Good Shepherd” to gently bring back His stray lambs. Thinking this candy was somewhat plain, the candymaker decorated it with red stripes. He used three small stripes to show the stripes of the scourging Jesus received by which we are healed. The large red stripe was for the blood shed by Christ on the cross so that we could have eternal life.
Although the candy cane is for many simply another Christmas decoration, its true meaning is still there for those who “have eyes to see and ears to hear.”

A Mom's Christmas

Mom's Night Before Christmas It was the night before Christmas, when all through the abode Only one creature was stirring, and she was cleaning the commode. The children were finally sleeping, all snug in their beds, While visions of Nintendo and Barbie, flipped through their heads. The dad was snoring in front of the TV, With a half-constructed bicycle on his knee. So only the mom heard the reindeer hooves clatter, Which made her sigh, "Now what's the matter?" With toilet bowl brush still clutched in her hand, She descended the stairs, and saw the old man. He was covered with ashes and soot, which fell with a shrug. "Oh great!!" muttered the mom, "Now I have to clean the rug." "Ho-Ho-Ho!!" cried Santa, "I'm glad you're awake. Your gift was especially difficult to make." "Thanks, Santa, but all I want is some time alone." "Exactly!!" he chuckled, "I've made you a clone." "A clone?" she asked, "What good is that? Run along, Santa. I've no time for chit-chat." It was the mother's twin. Same hair, same eyes, same double chin. "She'll cook, she'll dust, she'll mop every mess. You'll relax, take it easy, watch the Young and the Restless." "Fantastic!!" the mom cheered. "My dream come true! I'll shop. I'll read. I'll sleep a whole night through!" From the room above, the youngest began to fret. "Mommy?!? I'm scared, and I'm wet." The clone replied, "I'm coming, sweetheart." "Hey," the mom smiled, "She knows her part." The clone changed the small one, and hummed a tune, As she bundled the child, in a blanket cocoon. "You're the best mommy ever. I really love you." The clone smiled and sighed, "I love you, too." The mom frowned and said, "Sorry, Santa, no deal. That's my child's love that she's trying to steal." Smiling wisely Santa said, "To me it is clear, Only one loving mother is needed here." The mom kissed her child, and tucked her into bed. "Thank you, Santa, for clearing my head. I sometimes forget it won't be very long, When they'll be too old, for my cradle-song." The clock on the mantle began to chime. Santa whispered to the clone, "It works every time." With the clone by his side, Santa said, "Good night. Merry Christmas, Mom. You'll be alright."

Mulled Apple Juice

This is very nice hot beverage we enjoy in the wintertime; especially during the holidays.Heat 1- 48 oz. can of good apple juice in the top of a double boiler with 6-8 whole cloves and a 4-5 inch piece of stick cinnamon. Remove the spices after 30 minutes. Serve hot. Makes 8 servings.

Christmas, a great time to linger by the fire with a cup of good ole Apple Cider. I took some apples pealings the other day, put them with water in my tea kettle and oh the smell was wonderful, oh I did add a few cloves. I often make my own air freshener.

'Twas A Florida Christmas 'Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town, no noses were frozen, no snow fluttered down, no children in flannels were tucked into bed, they all wore shorty pajamas instead. To find wreaths of holly, t'was not very hard, for holly trees grew in every back yard. In front of the houses, Dads and Moms were adorning the bushes and coconut palms. The sleeping kiddies were dreaming in glee, hoping to find water skis under the tree. They all knew that Santa was well on his way, in a Mercedes-Benz, instead of a sleigh. And soon he arrived and started to work, he hadn't a second to linger or shirk. He whizzed up the highways and zoomed up the road, in a S-L 300, delivering his loads. The tropical moon gave the city a glow, and lighted the way for old Santa below. As he jumped from the auto he gave a wee chuckle, he was dressed in Bermudas with an Ivy league buckle, There weren't any chimneys, but that caused no gloom, for Santa came in through the Florida room. He stopped at each house....stayed only a minute, emptying his sack of stuff that was in it. Before he departed, he treated himself to a glass of papaya juice upon the shelf. He turned with a jerk and bounced to the car, remembering he still had to go very far. He shifted the gears and stepped on the gas and up Highway 90 he went like a flash. And I heard him exclaim as he went on his way, "MERRY CHRISTMAS Y'ALL, I WISH I COULD STAY!"

Winter Wonderland by The Mormon Tabernacle Choir

Good Morning Friends,

Going to be another very cold day here in Tennessee. Grab yourself a cup and coffee and visit with me for awhile. I still have this crud that someone gave me and it is sure rough. The coughing is bad and my tummy is so sore from all the hard coughing. One of the things the ole Doc. says has to run it course. I don,t even feel like crocheting and that is really feeling bad for me. I have so many orders to fill that I need to get the ole hook flying so I can deliever.

I made this last year and the one who received it was so thrilled. Takes longer to make squares than it does all one piece. So today I will try to get one made. You have a great day and remember to stay warm.

This would be so nice to go see when all the snow and lights are shinning in the sky.

My Christmas Memory

I have so many wonderful memories of Christmas, one being I was scared to death of the fat ole man called Santa. When the doorbell would ring I would hide under the table as I was scared it might be Santa. lol, how funny to think back to those good ole days.

The one that really stands out in my mind is when I told my mother there was no Santa Clause. So to make it short, on Christmas morning I awoke , ran to see what Santa had brought me and there was nothing there but one wrapped present and that was from my parents, it was a popcorn popper. Santa had not come to see me, Now ladies, that is a true story. so from that Christmas on I had no Santa Clause just what gifts I had under the tree from friends, family and parents. Even saying I do believe it did no good, lol

The one that told me this was my special friend Howard, did he ever get me in trouble with Santa.

The Twelve Days Of Christmas

Twelve Days of Christmas
There is one Christmas Carol that has always baffled me. What in the world do leaping lords, French hens, swimming swans, and especially the partridge who won't come out of the pear tree have to do with Christmas? This week, I found out.From 1558 until 1829, Roman Catholics in England were not permitted to practice their faith openly. Someone during that era wrote this carol as a catechism song for young Catholics. It has two levels of meaning: the surface meaning plus a hidden meaning known only to members of their church. Eachelement in the carol has a code word for a religious reality which the children could remember. -The partridge in a pear tree was Jesus Christ. -Two turtle doves were the Old and New Testaments.-Three French hens stood for faith, hope and love.-The four calling birds were the four gospels of Matthew, Mark, Luke & John. -The five golden rings recalled the Torah or Law, the first five books of the Old Testament. -The six geese a-laying stood for the six days of creation. -Seven swans a-swimming represented the sevenfold gifts of the Holy Spirit--Prophesy, Serving, Teaching, Exhortation, Contribution, Leadership, and Mercy. -The eight maids a-milking were the eight beatitudes. -Nine ladies dancing were the nine fruits of the Holy Spirit--Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness, and Self Control. -The ten lords a-leaping were the ten commandments. -The eleven pipers piping stood for the eleven faithful disciples.-The twelve drummers drumming symbolized the twelve points of belief in the Apostles' Creed.
